Lifespan describes how long someone lives. Healthspan is commonly used to discuss the part of life spent in good health. The terms ask related but different questions: how many years, and what is life like within those years?
What does living well mean to you?
It might mean moving comfortably, maintaining independence or participating in work and family life. Those priorities help make a clinical conversation personal. They do not replace assessment of symptoms or medical conditions.
The WHO describes healthy ageing in terms of maintaining the functional ability that supports wellbeing in older age. Its framework recognises that living with a well-controlled condition does not necessarily prevent someone from living well.
Choose meaningful measures
Useful measures depend on the person and the clinical question. A physician may consider relevant medical findings and discuss physical function, preventive care and personal priorities. A trend needs context: a numerical change does not by itself show whether someone is healthier.
Ask a better follow-up question
Instead of only asking “What is my score?”, ask “What does this finding mean for me, and what should we do next?”
Keep the plan practical
The proposed EDEN 360 pathway is designed to connect findings with a reviewed plan and follow-up. It does not promise extra years of life or claim to reverse ageing. Contact Eden Health Center in West Bay, Doha to discuss current preventive-care services.
